The disciples were not expecting what their master told them...not in a million years!

Yeshua’s kingdom: Time/season or era (part 2)

Bible Texts (Concordant Version of the Old Testament and Concordant Literal New Testament with keywords Concordance-CLNT: Acts 1:4-8 and Corinthians 5:18-21

Acts 1:4-8

4 And, being foregathered, He charges them not to be departing from Jerusalem, but to be remaining about for the promise of the Father, "which you hear of Me,

5 seeing that John, indeed, baptizes in water, yet you shall be baptized in holy spirit after not many of these days."

6 Those, indeed, then, who are coming together, asked Him, saying, "Lord, art Thou at this time restoring the kingdom to Israel?"

7 Yet He said to them, "Not yours is it to know times or eras which the Father placed in His own jurisdiction.

8 But you shall be obtaining power at the coming of the holy spirit on you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in entire Judea and Samaria, and as far as the limits of the earth."

Corinthians 5:18-21

18 Yet all is of God, Who conciliates us to Himself through Christ, and is giving us the dispensation of the conciliation,
19 how that God was in Christ, conciliating the world to Himself, not reckoning their offenses to them, and placing in us the word of the conciliation.
20 For Christ, then, are we ambassadors, as of God entreating through us. We are beseeching for Christ's sake, "Be conciliated to God!"
21 For the One not knowing sin, He makes to be a sin offering for our sakes that we may be becoming God's righteousness in Him.

It can be inferred from last week’s blog that Yeshua used fig tree as a parable to explain the process of times in each season, especially of the time of his coming. Yeshua knows we are in this era/season. This era has many times inside it. The time he would show up is not known to anyone except his father. However, we are in the season of his coming. He also gave us the clue by observing the life cycle of a fig tree closely.

In this week’s blog, the scriptures above revealed the account of the event that occurred after Yeshua had resurrected from death. The disciples were excited to see that Yeshua had resurrected as he had promised. So, they were eager to know what next Yeshua would do.

The disciples were of the opinion that the kingdom of God being proclaimed by John the Baptist and Yeshua had come after Yeshua had resurrected from death. What they heard from Yeshua was not what they had expected. They had soon forgotten that he had told them that only his father knows the time of the season of his coming.

I can imagine them hoping to hear that Yeshua was going to call upon the legions in heaven; ride on war chariot while his disciples ride behind him; dress in war outfits and charge his army towards the Roman government not to only defeat them but to also establishes a new government for Jews. They would not mind him conquering the rest of the world too. They would be glad to take seats with him on his throne as he establishes his kingdom on earth.

As much as this imagination might appear to be wonderful, Yeshua’s response to his disciples somehow disappointed them. I could imagine both John and James according to the event that happened in Matthew 20:20-28 thinking it was time for them to actualize their mother’s wish in the kingdom of Yeshua but found out it was not the right time. Huh! Not yet the time? When then? They would be disappointed. The rest disciples may also share in this disappointment.

Well, since there are time and season for everything just like the life cycle of a fig tree, the next chapter on Yahweh’s book is to get the followers of his son to work. This is where the promise of Yahweh through Yeshua had to come to fulfillment. This is why there was need for the holy spirit from Yahweh to operate through all followers of Christ.

This spirit is still in operation till today. This spirit helps us to reach out to people to share the gospel of no condemnation to them who are in Christ Yeshua. It is also helping us to tell people that Yahweh is not angry with them but is looking at us through his son. We are the price of Yeshua's suffer and sacrifice. Once anyone understands this, they will know that Yeshua is the savior of all humans especially of those who believe this gospel (1 Timothy 4:10).

Knowing fully well that you do not have to contribute to the work of salvation through Christ Yeshua gives you peace of mind. God loves you to the extent of letting his son be sacrificed to atone for your sins. You inherited sins from Adam but you inherited justification through Yeshua (Romans 5:12-21). What a great news!

The message of conciliating with Yahweh will continue until the consummation of this eon. I hope to discuss more on conciliation, next week.

At the right season, time of reaping/harvesting of the world will come. Then, this world will undergo a new reset. So, if you want to know how this world cycle may be, think of the parable of Christ Yeshua as he had illustrated it through a fig tree life cycle.

I hope this week’s blog has blessed you too.

Please, look forward for a new edition next week by the special grace of Yahweh.
