Yeshua teaches life lesson through Mathematics

Bible Texts (Concordant Version of the Old Testament and Concordant Literal New Testament with keywords Concordance-CLNT (Matthew 25:14-30)

Matthew 25:14-30: ...For it is even as a man traveling. He calls his own slaves and gives over to them his possessions. And to one, indeed, he gives five talents, yet to one, two, yet to one, one: to each according to his own ability...Now, being gone, the one getting five talents trades with them and gains another five talents. Similarly, also, the one with the two; he also gains another two. Yet the one getting the one talent, coming away, excavates in the earth and hides his lord's silver....And approaching, the one getting the five talents brings to him another five talents, saying Lord, five talents you give over to me, Lo! Another five talents do I gain with them. Now, the Lord averred to him, "Well done! Good and faithful slave. Over a few were you faithful; over many will I place you. ...the one also getting the two talents, Lord, two talents you give to me, Lo! another two talents I gain with them. His Lord averred to him, "Well done! good and faithful slave....Now, to the one talent, said Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you do not sow.....Now answering, his Lord said to him, "Wicked and slothful slave!.....For everyone who has shall be given, and he shall have superfluity, yet from the one who has not, that also which he has shall be taken away from him; and the useless slave cast out into outer darkness...

This week's blog take another turn into one of the parables of Yeshua to teach good moral about how to be a good servant/slave. The idea of this week's blog is to express Yeshua's parable in a mathematical way. I hope you would learn a lot from this blog too.

Do you know that our Lord Yeshua is a mathematician? He is a Cost and Managerial Accountant too! I am going to prove it to you. See Luke 14:28-30. Can anyone constructs a building without knowing how much it may cost? (paraphrased). That is to show you that Yeshua is concerned about the value of everything.

Now, to this week's blog, here are things you need to hold dearly to your heart:

1. Yeshua is our Master and we are his servants/slaves. This is not negotiable. He is our boss and we have to answer to him. He has free will over us but we do not (Romans 9:19).

2. Yeshua knows our abilities (Matthew 25:14-15). He never makes mistakes on what he has committed to our hands. To who much is given, much is expected (Luke 12:48). He knows ho much we can shoulder and will not over burden us with responsibilities.

3. He knows what we can do with the talents he has given to us but he used this parable to teach us lesson in relative sense that we need to be responsible servants.

4. Division is the best way to judge our productivities/deeds, not addition or multiplication. It is the fire that will burn our deeds to show whether our work will stand or not (1 Corinthians 3:10-15) on the day of accountability.

Here is the mathematical approach to this parable:

1. The servant that was given 5 talents gained 5 more. You may assume that he gained 10 talents. This is incorrect. He actually gained 1! 5 talents gained is to be divided by the five talents given. I.e. 5/5 = 1.

2. The servant that was given 2 talents gained 2 more. This means that he also gained 1. I.e. 2/2 = 1.

3. The servant given 1 talent but gained zero means zero is to be divided by the one given to him. I.e. 0/1 = 0! Can you believe it? He did not use the one talent given to him to gain one expected of him. A little was expected of him but it would have been the same reward from his Master!

Let us see, if this third servant used his given talent. He would have gained 1 more. This how the mathematical record would have been: 1/1 = 1! Can you now see that Yeshua knows our abilities? All these three servants supposed to be rewarded the same because each of them was expected to have the same result. That is, 1 each.

This man would have got 1/1 =1 if he had not kept his talent under the ground...

What more can you draw from this week's blog?

1. Do not overlook the skill/skills you were given by Yahweh. James 1:17 admonished us that all good giving and every perfect gratuity is from above, descending from the Father of lights, in whom there is no mutation or shadow from revolving motion. It means freely you were given every good gift. These gifts/talents are also perfect.

2. You are not expected to overdo but at least do as you are given the grace. We all have different level of grace. So, stay on your lane of talent(s). Do not covet your neighbor's talent(s). Your 1 talent/skill is as good as those who have more than what you have. Search within yourself for what you are good at; what you love to correct or what you enjoy doing not primarily because of the money attached to it.

3. Do not be slothful with your talent(s)/skill(s). In relative sense, Yahweh does not like us to be lazy at the skill(s) he has committed into our hands through his son, Yeshua.

4. Stop saying/assuming you do not have enough ability/strength to exploit your skill(s). Remember, Yeshua will take this talent away from those who claim they lack this strength and give it to those who use their strength to execute their given talents.

In conclusion, remember that there will be a day of accountability (2 Corinthians 5:10). Do your best and leave the rest. All our Lord Yeshua wants from us is to be good and be faithful at what he has committed into our hands.

Remember that there will the day of accountability. Do your best with your good gift(s).
